Walk past the giant golden dart handle on Grant Street and it’s easy to see how Cosmos earned its glittering reputation as the place to dress up, play interactive darts, and sip bespoke cocktails. But step inside lately, and you’ll realise the real showstopper is actually what’s landing on your plate. Cosmos has effortlessly transformed from a vibrant night out into a premier destination for a relaxed, sit-down dinner.

While the digital darts leaderboards still draw a crowd, the kitchen now delivers an experience that easily holds its own against the famous mixology. To make the dining experience even better, they have just built a beautiful new outdoor deck, and it’s quickly become one of the few spots in town to enjoy an alfresco dinner on a balmy night. Indoors, the polished decor of deep greens, gold accents, and plush booths offers a moody, air-conditioned intimacy perfect for a sophisticated dinner date.

A fresh take on modern tapas

Led by head chef Alberto, the sophisticated, share-style tapas menu at Cosmos is a far cry from standard bar food, showcasing light, modern dishes that celebrate local tropical ingredients.

Raised in Madrid, Alberto’s cooking style is Mediterranean with global influences. The menu at Cosmos reflects that mix - you’ll find traditional Spanish croquetas alongside Latin influences like Argentinian empanadas, flatbreads, and burgers.

Food runs in Alberto’s DNA. Raised in a family of chefs, family dinners were always multi-course, fine dining affairs. Though he initially studied business and law, his true calling won out. He mastered French cuisine at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu Madrid before perfecting his craft alongside international chefs across Australia.

That rich background shines through on every plate. The kingfish crudo is incredibly fresh and melts in your mouth, while the truffle tartare offers a rich, delicious bite. For something more savoury and substantial, the beautifully charred pork belly skewers are a masterclass in texture.

True to the venue’s playful energy, the dart theme pops up on the table too. The Wagyu sliders, popcorn chicken, and chorizo all arrive adorned with miniature gold darts, making the plates just as Instagram-worthy as they are delicious. Plus, plenty of gluten-free options ensure everyone in the group is looked after.

The perfect pour to match the plate

Of course, a meal here isn’t complete without a trip to the bar. Drawing on a decade of experience in award-winning US restaurants, mixologist Alex Karimnia combines creativity and precision to elevate every pour. The menu features everything from sub-zero Minus 40° Martinis to the signature Cosmic Cosmo.

Joining these beloved staples is a freshly launched cocktail menu featuring inventive new creations - like the pandan-infused Silk Road Highball, the Coral Cay Market Punch made with fresh produce from the Port Douglas Sunday market, and the dessert-inspired Sunset Meringue - alongside a handpicked wine list curated to complement Chef Alberto’s seasonal dishes.

For a truly unique twist, you can round out your evening with their signature “Bull’s Eye” cocktail spheres. These delicate, flavour-packed molecular shots are made from scratch daily and last just 48 hours; a fun, fleeting little treat to enjoy right from the spoon between rounds of darts.

Late-night cravings, solved

Cosmos is as flexible as your plans. Unlike most venues, the kitchen stays open late, until 10.30pm Monday to Thursday, 11.30pm on Friday and Saturday, and 9:30pm on Sundays. It's the ultimate spot to satisfy those late-night cravings.

By day, it’s a relaxed spot for cocktails and small plates indoors or on the breezy deck. As the sun sets, local DJs, moody lighting, and interactive darts ($10 per person during 3–5 pm happy hour) transform the space into a vibrant night-time destination.

Planning a birthday, work celebration, or private event? You can book out the entire venue, giving your guests exclusive access to our full menu and games. Whether you’re catching the evening breeze, hosting a party, or settling in for a weekend session, Cosmos easily proves it’s a complete dining destination.
