What to expect

Arrival and Check-In:

Arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled flight time. Meet at the end of Wangetti Beach Road, just a 2-minute drive from Hartley’s Crocodile Adventure and Rex Lookout.

Pre-Flight Preparation:

Sign required documentation electronically on site. Receive a briefing on safety procedures and what to expect during the flight. Gear up and make your way along the beach to get ready for take-off.

Flight Experience:

Take-off from the beach, feeling yourself effortlessly lifted into the sky using a unique winch tow launch method. Soar above the coastline and enjoy panoramic views of the Coral Sea, beautiful beaches, and rainforest-clad mountains. After 15 minutes of flying, land back on the beach gently and safely.

Afterwards:

Reflect on your flight as you make your way back along the beach to conclude this unforgettable experience. Looking for other things to do nearby? Stay at the beach to soak up the sun, head to Rex Lookout for more panoramic views, or make your way to Hartley’s Crocodile Adventure for another exciting encounter .

Availability
This year, flights are available in June and September.
Flights are available daily, between 12pm and 5pm.

Location
Meet at the end of Wangetti Beach Road, a 2 minute drive from Hartley’s Crocodile Adventure and Rex Lookout, a 30 minute drive from Port Douglas, and a 40 minute drive from Cairns. Car parking available.

Weather Considerations
Tandem flights are weather dependent so there may be delays to your flight if weather conditions change or are unsuitable for flying. We kindly ask for your patience, understanding and flexibility should this situation arise – the weather is out of our control and your safety is our top priority. Please take this into account when organising transport.
Transport
Please arrange your own transport. We recommend organising transportation with ample buffer time to account for potential weather delays. We suggest allowing at least 60 - 90mins from your scheduled booking time to allow for documentation, pre-flight briefing, possible weather-related delays and actual flying time. Missed transportation due to weather is not eligible for compensation.

We recommend the transport provider ‘Beaches Meet & Greet’ (https://www.beachescairns.com). They offer return transfers from Cairns and Palm Cove to Wangetti Beach Road (and Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures). Pick-up time: Cairns @ 12:30pm or Palm Cove @ 1:00pm for a drop-off at Wangetti Beach Road at 1:15pm. Departure time: Wangetti Beach Road @ 4:30pm or Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures @ 4:45pm back to Palm Cove and Cairns. If you book transport with Beaches Meet & Greet, please ensure the time of your tandem flight booking is at one of the following times: 1:30pm, 2pm, 2:30pm or 3pm.

Alternatively, you may be able to request a drop-off to, and pick-up from, Wangetti Beach Road from other transport services in Cairns and Port Douglas that already go to/from Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures.

Video & Photos

• A video package is available including a GoPro video of your flight.
• If your booking does not include video, you have the option of adding a video on the day of your flight when you check-in (incurs additional fee).
• You will receive your video immediately after your flight via transfer to your phone.
• Personal cameras and phones are not permitted during the flight.

Family & Friends
Share your experience with family and friends. They are welcome to come along and take photos and videos as you prepare for your flight, launch and land.

Additional Information

• Minimum age is 11 years (no maximum age limit!)
• Weight range for paragliding is between 30-120kg
• Basic fitness and good general health are required for safety. If you are unsure whether you meet the requirements, contact us for an individual assessment. 
• Not accessible for wheelchair users
• Passengers under 18 require a parent or guardian to sign the waiver

Cancellation Policy

• If you need to cancel or reschedule your flight, at least 24 hours’ notice is required.
• If you cancel your flight within 24 hours of your flight time, your payment will be forfeited. 
• If we cannot fly due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, we will reschedule your flight free of charge.
