Marine Stingers:

The Box Jellyfish and Irukandji are sometimes found in the tropical waters of North Queensland over the summer months. Dragnets are conducted from October on the main beach daily to best indicate their arrival. Over this period it is strongly advised that swimmers check with Surf Live Saving Patrol before swimming at the beaches.

Cone Shells:

The waters and beaches around Port Douglas are sometimes home to the Coneshell, a poisonious marine animal. Please leave any shells with a cone appearance where you find them to best protect the environment and yourselves.
