NORTHBREAK:

           THE WILL AND

           THE WAVE

           WORDS by Jeremy Lebeuf

At any given moment, somewhere in this vast magnificent world, there’s a wave
           breaking.
Both powerful and poetic, waves are a prelude to life – soothing, exhilarating,
and terrifying - they live with the ebbs and flow and succumb to their demise
           when they break.
For wave seekers there is a transcendent bond that has conjured a connection
between man and the rush of the liquid blue, to harness a wave’s essence and
ride its spirit is a near-religious experience. They are more than just riders of
water subscribing to a mere sport, it’s a culture, an endless and eternal lifestyle.
           They are soul surfers.
Port Douglas has many elements that emote their own unique magical aura,
the area is rich in natural wonders to feel, native wildlife to encounter, and food
that will totally open your eyes and rock your tastebuds. It is the destination
on everyone’s travel lips and continues to be the jewel of the tropical north,
and with so many things to do and explore in the region to list them would be
stretched as long as Port’s iconic Four Mile Beach.
With surfing as ingrained in Australian culture as much, or even more so, as
Vegemite, when visitors come to Port Douglas engulfed by the idyllic sun, salt,
and sand that mirrors any surf-centric coastal town, one question is echoed:
           “Where is the surf?”
