In October 2021, the Queensland government announced the
construction of a $6.8m film and television studio in Cairns.
Slated to open mid-22, Screen Queensland Studios Cairns will
feature a sound stage, production offices, and construction,
wardrobe, and hair and makeup departments, along with an
events space. All this will be just five minutes from the Cairns
CBD and, crucially, a short skip to the airport and major highways.
