A Golden Era
Since the early 1980s, Port Douglas has been on the bucket list of millions of travellers, revered as one
of Australia’s most captivating destinations. Over the years it has been both celebrated and critiqued
for its minimal approach to tourism. Yet what defines us remains clear: a rare mix of world-class
natural wonders, a rich cultural legacy, and a town that feels both cosmopolitan and connected.
Nowhere else do heritage townships sit in harmony with so many natural wonders, the world’s oldest
living culture and prehistoric wildlife. Special places like the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree
Rainforest, Cape Tribulation, Mossman Gorge, and Four Mile Beach — each icons in their own right.
Yet beyond the spectacular beauty, it’s our sense of custodianship and warm welcome that adds to the
unique flair of the region and visitor experience.
Today, a new golden era is emerging. Confidence in sustainable investment, the next generation of eco conscious travellers and
sea-changers, a trusted leadership and a renewed appreciation of our lifestyle are shaping the region’s future. Port Douglas,
Mossman, and the Daintree continue to satisfy every kind of travel and living desire.
