et us introduce you to another wonder of our region—
the Sea Circus Productions. This circus extravaganza
Land a thrilling addition to the entertainment scene
blends acrobatics, aerial arts, contortion, LED and fire dancing
in performances inspired by the beauty of the Daintree
Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef. What began as a
casual group of friends exploring circus arts has blossomed
into a dynamic troupe, showcasing the talent of Far North
Queensland.
At the helm of this venture is Vanessa Lyn Carey, a woman of
many talents with a strong passion for circus arts and community.
A former gymnast and dancer, Vanessa has spent the past decade
honing her acrobatic skills in aerial silks and, more recently, fire
dancing. As a silks instructor and coach at the Mossman & District
Gymnastics Club, she is dedicated to inspiring and nurturing
emerging performers.
Vanessa’s expertise extends far beyond circus disciplines. She is
a marine biologist who not only steers the creative direction of
the circus, but she is also a master captain at Windswell, the go-to “WHETHER
Port Douglas watersports company, where she leads boat trips and
coordinates a wide range of aquatic activities. Whether guiding TEACHING AERIAL
guests through the reef or taking them deep within the rainforest, SILKS OR GUIDING
Vanessa finds excitement in both her aerial pursuits and marine

“Being on the water has always been a big part of my life,” says
Vanessa. “Like acrobatic arts, both offer a sense of thrill and THE REEF, MY GOAL
freedom through full immersion in the elements.” Her passion IS TO EMPOWER,
for circus and the marine environment comes from the same deep
connection to nature, where she feels empowered and free. This CONNECT, AND
connection inspires her to encourage others to express themselves
