         note.

Welcome to Port Douglas and our beautiful region.
Flying over the Great Barrier Reef (GBR) into Cairns and taking the scenic GBR drive to our idyllic part of the
world sets the scene, the vibe, and the excitement to any well-earned break. A region famous for its awe-inspiring
natural beauty, the visit by our friend Jasper last year, I think allowed us all to truly appreciate what else our
                              destination offers.
Naturally, there are plethora of benefits tropical living offers to holiday makers and as a resident we realise that on
occasion we will experience an extreme weather event, and for this we need to be prepared. Whilst I do not wish to
dwell on the devastation this event may have presented to our family, friends, and neighbours I do wish to highlight and
celebrate the positive community spirit that we witnessed in leaps and bounds.
For those in our emergency services, we salute you and your unwavering support. For every act of kindness, bravery and person that rolled up
their sleeves, grabbed a broom, cooked a meal, sheltered a neighbour or a visitor, we noticed and sincerely, we thank you.
Mother nature is a magnificent matriarch and with a little help from us she will replenish and return in all her glory to impress upon our lives
and help welcome back our visitors. Add just a pinch of the community spirit displayed last year and you have a destination that will offer
unique experiences and a holiday to rival anywhere in the world.
Every few months the Magazine team works hard to find, sample, and share with you, the very best the region has to offer in food, shopping, spa,
culture and exploring the great outdoors. So let us continue to help you plan, book and a enjoy a fabulous holiday. This visit though, maybe
take a moment to meet and enjoy the company of the locals behind your dinner out, new gift, Espresso Martini, or new adventure. Tailor-made
for your enjoyment, they share a little piece of their lives, that will enrich your experience and offer a window into our beautiful community.
As if on cue, our annual Port Douglas Carnivale is also celebrating 30 years of fun and entertainment. Steeped in history it may well be the
perfect excuse to come and visit to see why Port Douglas is simply “CLASSIC.”
Make the most of your time here in paradise.
          And whatever you choose,
          Enjoy your time.
