written on every single tambourine, “Pick me up and bang me!” Well,
that certainly helped set the tone. When they arrived at the reception
everyone had created a tambourine tunnel! They walked into the party
behind the trumpet player and knew and loved that everyone was ready
to help them celebrate, have a great time and party the night away.
Later that night came another special moment. Josh remembers sitting
down at the bridal table and looking out over the wedding. The sun
was setting behind the house, everyone was laughing, smiling, eating
and drinking – he had just married the girl of his dreams - and he really
thought at that moment that life was perfect.
True to their word, the couple were seriously committed to a holiday
in paradise for their guests as well as exchanging their vowels. “We
arrived in Port Douglas about two weeks before the wedding so we
could relax and chill out before everyone started arriving,” Josh said.
“We made sure we organised a weekend of activities and festivities
prior to the wedding so everyone could mingle and party. Let’s call it
the warmup! Friday night we enjoyed pizza at Chilly’s followed by cane
toad racing, which people still laugh about! Saturday was the White
Party aboard a private charter that took everyone out on the Great
Barrier Reef to relax and enjoy some snorkelling. On Sunday we did a
quick rehearsal followed by a bridal party dinner at La Cucina. Finally
on Monday we got hitched! We had a recovery party back at Lakeside
on Tuesday before flying out the next day to Hawaii for our honeymoon.”
The whole experience was so amazing. Emily and Josh have both agreed
that for their 10 -year wedding anniversary they would return to Port
Douglas, book Lakeside again and throw another party for the decade!
And if you had to give someone advice for getting married in Far North
Queensland, what would it be?
“Take your time with the planning process, enjoy the engagement bubble
and don’t rush things. If you are having a destination wedding in FNQ,
make sure it feels like a holiday for your guests …. but also, yourselves,”
the couple said.
