Winter.
The most glorious time of the year in Port Douglas. For all the regular visitors to Port, I may just leave
it there because if you know, you know! For those considering our wonderful part of the world for a
holiday or if you are visiting for the first time, I would love to share some inside knowledge.
The average winter temperature sits at a heavenly 25 degrees. Perfect for a run, a dip in the ocean or a
lazy breakfast with a side of quality coffee to kick start your day. Walks on the beach and alfresco living
become part of the daily ritual, even the chill of a freshwater creek seems pleasantly inviting.
Some of our region’s best events are also back to entertain. Taste Port Douglas, now in its sixth series
returns with a wealth of talent, and a delicious culinary four-day program designed to tantalise those
taste buds – If you describe yourself as a foodie, mark it in your calendar!
Close by, one of the largest music and camping festivals this region has even seen will be back in Mareeba. With a lineup to match
including international stars, Aussie legends and rising talent, Savannah in the Round will be putting the cool back into Country.
We can’t wait.
And for all those lovers of sports and adventure, the inaugural Port Douglas Grand Fondo Festival will be your ticket to ride in
Far North Queensland. A dream ride for any cyclist, you will get to race and experience one of Australia’s most scenic routes,
The Great Barrier Reef Drive. A great addition to the Major Event Series, and one that is here to stay.
The rest of the year? We are blessed with the usual, an array of gourmet and cultural experiences to delight, and a host of activities that
will fill your holiday cup to the brim. Whether you are looking for adventure, wellness, shopping or simply some relaxation we have
something to tempt you. But first, kick off your shoes and embrace the local tempo as you soak up the best of Port Douglas Daintree.
Our jewel of the Far North shines bright in these winter months, so all you need to do now is find a spot to relax and let us take you on
a journey as we show you the best our region has to offer.
Better still, why not come and see for yourself?
And whatever you choose
Enjoy your time.
